• Summer League: Complete Coverage
The 20th year of NBA summer hoops in Las Vegas began to wrap up Sunday with the final six consolation games and a pair of semifinals ahead of Monday’s championship. Here’s a look at the players who closed out their Summer League with a bang:
Rob Dillingham, Minnesota
Minnesota’s unexpected dip into the 2024 lottery via trade appears to be primed to pay off. Dillingham dominated in Minnesota’s 115-100 victory over Orlando, amassing 25 points and 12 assists on efficient 11-for-18 shooting. He’s proving to be a versatile scorer. Dillingham made five shots in the paint, three long 2s and a trio of 3-pointers.
Kevin Knox II, Golden State
The former lottery pick flashed his talent off the bench in the Warriors’ narrow semifinal loss to Miami. Knox put up 31 points and 11 rebounds while shooting a sizzling 12-for-17, including 5-for-10 from 3-point range. The long-range shooting is a bonus from Knox, who shot a perfect 7-for-7 inside the arc.
Scotty Pippen Jr., Memphis
Memphis’ dramatic one-point win over the Clippers — and subsequent Summer League championship berth — is due in no small part to Pippen. While he didn’t shoot well, the 23-year-old guard attacked the paint (10-for-10 FTM) and stuffed the stat sheet to the tune of 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. The performance marked just the sixth triple-double in Summer League history.
Brandon Slater, Hornets
In Charlotte’s 97-90 win over Brooklyn, the undrafted swingman took all 16 of his shot attempts either in the paint or from 3-point range, and he didn’t miss many of either. The result was a 30-point outing on 62.5% shooting. Charlotte finishes 4-1 in Las Vegas, with Slater among several intriguing talents to leave a positive impression.
Kyle Filipowski, Utah
The beginning of the second round is popular territory to search for hidden talent. Filipowski showed some of that on Sunday, putting up 26 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals in the Jazz’ 97-87 victory over Detroit. The shot efficiency wasn’t quite there (8-22 FGs, 3-11 3PM), but his physicality on both ends resulted in big numbers on the glass and at the free throw line (7-7 FTM).
