Pre-Draft Outlook
Another offseason, another pat hand for the Bulls? That’s possible, especially given basketball boss Arturas Karnisovas’ reluctance to be a seller at the February trade deadline. Re-signing DeMar DeRozan, retaining restricted free agent Patrick Williams and pinning even modest hopes on long-injured Lonzo Ball suggest a static core, one that has topped out with Play-In Tournament exits the past two seasons. Trading Zach LaVine, to shed the $138 million left on his contract, is the only way this team could make a summer splash.
The Way To Go
Coby White’s emergence and Alex Caruso’s defense have solidified the backcourt, which leaves wing depth, help on the glass and (assuming Andre Drummond leaves) bodies behind Nikola Vucevic as top needs. The lottery pick should be able to address one of those. Names that have popped up as possibilities for the Bulls include guard Isaiah Collier, Colorado’s Cody Williams (brother of OKC forward Jalen Williams) and G League Ignite prospect Ron Holland.
